The growth of the city and the expansion on virgin farmland should provide a need for an alternative type of housing, where the city boundaries are marked through the creation of interesting living areas with strongly emphasized character.The site is highly profiled as a green area with clearly defined zones that are easy to identify. The project provides low cost housing of pre-made building systems. The insulated core of the house contains the building’s infrastructure and basic sleeping and living zones. The greenhouse is the all year round living and activity zone.
All housing types are responding to different conditions in the culture landscape. All emphasizing the garden, growth and fertility as the important aspect of lifestyle, and as such connecting a modern urban life to the ideal life in the countryside.
As a connecting element throughout the area is the public bothanical path which both serves the local community as well as invites visitors to the area. Every void between the houses are different, shaped in different vegetation, water channels, paths and ground vegetation.
The project was awarded as a runner up in Europan 7. The idea was that it as one of the three winning projects should be further developed and partly realized. This never happened as the client chose to continue with only one of the three architects.
