UTKIKKEN

The existing concrete lookout was build by the Norwegian Defence in the twenties. Its placed on top of a small island on the Northwest coast of Norway overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
The floor area is 10m2 and the site is circular 6m diameter. There is a small village on the island. And the building regulations are strict. The solution is to make a flexible structure so the building almost seams unchanged when its not in use but is more expressive when there is people there.
One of the walls is replaced with a retractable steel/glass structure. Which gives a max floor area of 17m2. Its equipped with shower and toilet hung in two “tanks” outside the wall and a gas kitchen. The roof terrace has a telescope roof that can be equipped with mosquito net for outdoor sleeping at hot summer nights.

Unfortunately someone else bought the lookout when it was sold. We do not know the current state of the structure.
